Who we are

Sheen Kit is an independent publication run by a small editorial team. We are not a salon, a clinic, a tattoo studio, or a manufacturer. We have no product line to protect and no brand relationships that dictate what we recommend.

The site exists because the equipment people buy for at-home appearance work is genuinely difficult to compare, and the buying advice available for it is generally worse than the products. Search for a beginner tattoo machine or a derma roller and you will find dozens of pages claiming weeks of hands-on testing that plainly never happened. We decided the more useful thing was to read what can actually be verified, report it accurately, and say clearly where the record runs out.

What we cover

Three benches, one standard of evidence.

• Hair extensions and wigs — tape-in and clip-in systems, wefts, lace fronts, caps, adhesives, and the removers that break the bond without destroying the hair shaft.
• Skin devices and facial treatments — derma rollers and pens, LED masks, microcurrent and cleansing devices, with attention to needle length, wavelength and stated recovery windows.
• Tattoo supplies and aftercare — rotary and coil machines, stencil printers and transfer media, cartridges, inks, and the healing phase most buying guides skip entirely.

How we research

Every recommendation on this site is assembled from three sources, and only these three.

• Manufacturer specifications. Stated needle depths and gauges, motor types and stroke lengths, cartridge compatibility, adhesive chemistry, ingredient lists, power requirements and warranty terms — reported as the manufacturer states them.
• Published documentation. User manuals, safety data sheets, regulatory listings, and peer-reviewed literature where it exists for a device class, an ingredient or a technique.
• Verified owner reviews. Patterns across verified purchases, weighted toward repeated, specific failure reports rather than isolated enthusiasm or isolated complaint.

Where those three sources disagree, we say so. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing useful, we say that too, and the product carries a lower confidence tier as a result. Our confidence tiers describe how much verifiable information sits behind an entry — they are not scores, and they are not a substitute for a rating we did not earn.

What we don’t do

We do not run a lab. We do not conduct hands-on trials. We do not use these products on ourselves, on models, or on clients, and we never describe results we did not observe. If a page on this site ever reads as though we personally used a product, that is an error and we want to hear about it.

We also do not publish star ratings or numeric scores. A score out of ten implies a measurement, and we have not measured anything. We do not display prices, because retail prices change faster than any publication can maintain them and a stale price is a small lie. And we do not accept payment for placement — no brand can buy a recommendation, a position, or a favourable line of copy on this site.

How we make money

Sheen Kit is funded by affiliate commissions. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, and some outbound links to retailers may earn us a commission if you buy through them. Safety comes before conversion

Almost everything we cover touches skin, hair bonds, or an open wound. Solvents, needles, adhesives and healing tissue carry real risk, and we would rather lose a click than encourage someone into a procedure they are not ready for. Where a product or technique carries a documented hazard, we name it plainly — even in guides where naming it costs us the sale.

Nothing on Sheen Kit is medical, dermatological or professional advice. If a wound is hot, spreading, weeping or painful beyond the first days, stop reading and see a qualified clinician.

Corrections
